Welcome to my psychotherapy practice website. I have a full time private practice in Boulder, Colorado where I work with individual adult women, college students and teen girls.

Here you will find information about the work that I am committed to wholeheartedly.

I have a multifaceted approach to healing which is grounded in rigorous clinical training and contemplative practices incorporating body awareness and the creative process. Our bodies carry emotional distress which often isn’t accessible through talk therapy alone. Through contemplative mindfulness practices, researched based trauma treatment, and the creative art process, we can get to the root of many complex emotions and behaviors together.

I work with a variety of concerns ranging from trauma and PTSD, childhood abuse, eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, grief and loss, life transition and divorce, anxiety and depression, self-harming behavior, and relationship issues. Often times, the relationship to food, substances and other forms of numbing become the coping mechanism one uses to avoid the painful feelings resulting from overwhelming stress or past traumas. These coping skills may no longer be serving you but instead be interfering with your relationship to others and to yourself. You may feel depression or anxiety, shame, grief, confusion or out of control with these behaviors.

Often times we are triggered into a fight or flight response and we don’t even know it until we are back in our old maladaptive patterns and coping strategies that no longer serve us. In the moment, these old coping strategies help us to feel safe and in control, temporarily. Unfortunately,  these strategies that helped us at a critical time in our lives are no longer working and are often self harming. This pattern that has served us so well in the past can be transformed with consciousness into new ways of being in the world. Together we will learn how to cultivate kindness towards ourselves and learn how to nurture and care for ourself with an improved sense of well being.

My therapeutic approach is based on the individual needs of each client. My style is supportive and non- judgemental allowing each client to be in control of their self exploration. Starting therapy can often feel daunting or may even be scary but with gentle guidance it can be the most rewarding work you may ever do.

Therapy takes place in a supportive and safe context allowing you to be in control of your treatment. My work is holistic in nature drawing from elements of EMDR, Mindfulness Based, depth psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and art therapy in an integrative approach that is very effective in working with difficult emotions and life experiences. This approach has the potential to transform suffering and trauma through mind, body and spirit that is specific to each individual leading to more authenticity and self acceptance.

Inner transformation is no easy task and is one that takes courage and a commitment to one’s personal process. It is rare and often difficult to take time out of our busy lives to slow down and tune into our feelings, desires and dreams. Using a multifaceted approach to therapy can be a profound opportunity for self understanding and resolution of the things that are no longer serving us leading to deep and lasting personal growth.
